Rotations
The Fellow Year 1 consists of rotations in the following areas:
- 3 months of Consult Liaison - Covenant Childrens Hospital
- 1 month of Pediatric Neurology
- 1 month of Adolescent Medicine
- 1 month of Pediatric Child Protection
- 1 month Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics
- Dedicated time for research
- 10% medication management continuity clinic
- 10% therapy continuity clinic
- Longitudinal experience with justice intervened youth residents
- Urgent assessment clinic
Academic Expectations:
- Take Child PRITE and use results for direct future learning goals.
- Welcome medical students on rotation and facilitate their educational exposure to CAP.
- Set personal academic goals for supervision and participate consistently in supervision.
- With faculty supervision develop research protocol and obtain IRB approval if needed.
- Present 2 journals for journal club to faculty and other learners.

Responsibilities of FY1 fellow:
- Refine knowledge learned in general psychiatry residency. (mk)
- Know principles of child and adolescent psychiatry (mk)
- Know principles of administrative psychiatry. (mk, sbp)
- Know principles in transition to psychiatric practice. (mk, sbp)
- Know principles in psychological and neuropsychological testing (mk, sbp)
- Refinement of skills learned in general psychiatry residency. (pc, ics)
- Understand and utilize best practice in assessment of children (mk, sbp)
- Understand and utilize best practice in various treatment modalities for children and families (mk, sbp).
- Ability to teach and help develop the skills of medical students and junior residents in evaluation and treatment of child and adolescent psychiatry patients. (ics, pbli)
- Ability to appraise particularly the professional and scientific literature in psychiatric and neuropsychiatric press. (mk, pbli)
- Ability to grasp the issues of financing and regulation of psychiatric practice, including information about insurances, billing and other related administrative matters. (mk, sbp)
- Refinement of behaviors learned in general psychiatry residency. (p)
