The department is dedicated to patient care, teaching at the fellowship, resident and medical student levels, and research. It is a strong and growing department with a close faculty-fellow/resident/student interrelationship.
Internal Medicine Clerkship
Third and fourth year medical students on Internal Medicine rotations develop basic competencies in evaluation and management of adult patients, build a core knowledge of common diseases seen in Internal Medicine, and acquire skills, professional attitudes, and humanistic qualities needed for the care of Internal Medicine patients. ACGME Full Accreditation
The TTUHSC Permian Basin Department of Internal Medicine enjoys accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in the for Internal Medicine Residency along with Endocrinology, Cardiology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowships.
The ACGME establishes national standards for programs and regularly inspects those programs for assurances of compliance. The programs also operates under campus level governance according to the House Staff Policies and Procedures, which are updated annually to assure the welfare of physicians-in-training.
Internal Medicine Residency Program
The program is a fully accredited three-year residency designed to provide clinical, academic and professional development of post graduate resident physicians in the field of internal medicine. The program enjoys full accreditation by ACGME without any citations. MORE.
Fellowship Programs
Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship: The Endocrinology Fellowship Program is to train physicians to achieve the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of a specialist in Endocrinology. The Permian Basin Campus has the only ACGME accredited adult Endocrinology Fellowship in West Texas. MORE
Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship: The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program is to provide comprehensive training in cardiology, focusing on the competencies put forth by the ACGME. Upon completion of training fellows will have successfully acquired the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for independent practice and certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Pulmonology Medicine Fellowship: The Pulmonology Medicine Fellowship Program designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders in pulmonary medicine. We aim to equip our trainees with the skills, knowledge, and professional ethos required to excel as specialists in pulmonary medicine, contributing meaningfully to the advancement of the field and the well-being of patients.
Critical Care Medicine Fellowship: The Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program is dedicated to developing highly skilled intensivists equipped to meet the challenges of modern critical care. This program is designed to equip trainees with the clinical expertise, research acumen, collaborative spirit, and leadership skills necessary to excel in the demanding and dynamic field of critical care medicine.

FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS:

accept ERAS applications. Interviews will take place between August 2024 - October
2024.
IM RESIDENCY PROGRAM:
