HSC Student AffairsAssociate Provost for Student Affairs Erin Justyna serves as Associate Provost for Student Affairs, leading the Offices of the Registrar, Student Disability Services, Student Financial Aid, Student Life, Veterans Resource Center, and the Writing Center. Erin joined the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in September 2019 after more than two decades at Texas Tech University. Her experience in higher education has included work in student affairs, undergraduate education, and academic affairs. Her presentations, invited talks, and publications have focused on the role of creativity in teaching, professional identity, and workplace culture. Vashati Gonzales Vashati Gonzales is a Texas Tech University graduate who has worked in human resources, customer service, and finance since 2012. She specializes in motivation, communication, organization, and relationships. Her past experiences in customer service and education led her to a career in higher education, and she strives to see success in other. She currently oversees finance and administration and serves as a liaison between multiple departments, including the Budget Office, Human Resources, and Accounts Payable for HSC Student Affairs at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC). In her role, she coordinates the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) and has successfully helped organize funding initiatives. Vashati also chairs the Student Services Fee Committee, contributes to the Communications Advisory Committee, and proudly serves as a TTUHSC Staff Senator. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she is a dedicated mother of three and an active participant in the APA pool league.
Christina Cortez is a South Plains College graduate who has worked in Administration and Customer Service since 2009. Having obtained her Associates in Office Administration, she continues to strive everyday to further her knowledge and education. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading fiction novels, baking and watching cooking shows. |
Financial AidMia Myers, M.Ed., FAAC Mia Myers serves as Associate Managing Director of Student Financial Aid. Mia began her TTUHSC financial aid career in 1995 and has nearly 30 years of financial aid experience. She is a member of the National, Texas and Regional financial aid associations. She has served many different financial aid roles throughout her time in TTUHSC Student Financial Aid. During this time, she has worked with students from all TTUHSC programs, overseen TTUHSC Scholarship processing, federal, state and private loan processing, and other financial aid operations. Mia earned both her Bachelors in General Business and Masters in Higher Education from Texas Tech University. She enjoys spending her free time with her family. |
RegistrarAmanda McSween Amanda has been with TTUHSC for over 15 years, with 12 of those years in the Registrar’s Office working with students in the areas of Admissions and Enrollment Management. She graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and is working to obtain her Masters in Higher Education at Texas Tech University. She is involved with National, Regional, and Texas Registrar professional associations and serves on various committees at the HSC aimed at improving services and processes. Amanda’s passion is serving students and helping them achieve their life long dreams of becoming health care professionals. Amanda has been married for 21 years and has three children. Her hobbies include watching her children compete in various competitive sports and hanging out with friends and family. |
Student Disability ServicesTamara Mancini, M.Ed. Tamara has worked within the Texas Tech system since 2000 and has been in disability support services since 2005. Tamara’s wealth of ADA knowledge and her background in Student Affairs have equipped her to assist students in their transition to college and life after college. As the Director of Student Disability Services at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, she supports all students needing academic accommodations and also collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure those student accommodations are implemented. Tamara is a steadfast Red Raider, earning her B.A. in English as well as her Masters in Higher Education –Student Affairs from Texas Tech. When she is not supporting the efforts of students, Tamara loves to travel and spend time with her family. |
Student LifeKeri Shiplet Keri Shiplet has worked professionally in Student Engagement and Development in and outside of the state of Texas for the past 19 years. She has worked in the areas of student organizations, student government, leadership development, programming, fraternity and sorority life, and orientation. Keri earned her B.A in Communication from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM and her M.S. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. She has served as a presenter and facilitator for national student leadership development programs. Keri currently serves as the director of the Office of Student Life that includes student health insurance, student organizations, the institutional student government association, international student programming, and annual programs that support student success. She serves as the advisor of the institutional student government association, supervises the operations of the student health insurance, student organizations, international student programs, and coordinates the HSC Student Affairs departments involvement in school orientations. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, watching TV and movies, reading, and spending time with family and her dogs. |
Veterans Resource CenterSara Henly Sara Henly has been with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) since 2016, when she moved to Lubbock after serving 6 years in the U.S. Navy. Sara is now the Director of the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) at TTUHSC. She continuously seeks professional development to remain current on issues relevant to veterans and their families, especially those in higher education. She has earned a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management and Master of Education in Higher Education Administration. When she is not supporting student veterans and their families on campus, she works to support them in the community and also loves to spend time with her family. |
Writing CenterDevjani Roy Devjani Roy is the founding and inaugural director of the university-wide Writing Center, and has worked for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center since 2016. The Writing Center serves all five campuses of the university system, working with 4,000 to 5,000 visitors every year, and helping faculty, students, staff, clinical researchers, and medical residents with academic writing and research, with a focus on scientific writing, clinical research papers, medical journal articles, presentations and speeches, CV, and career documents, fellowship applications, residency applications, among other genres of writing. She welcomes everyone at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to visit the Writing Center to maximize their writing and research productivity. |
