HRPP Training Requirements
HRPP Education and Training Overview
The TTUHSC HRPP requires all research study personnel who engage (or plan to engage) in Human Subject Research to 1) Complete the HRPP required training regarding the protection of human subjects in research, AND 2) Have/maintain an active Cayuse account (which includes access to Human Ethics module).
This policy applies to all research involving human subjects, regardless of funding
or sponsorship, and must be completed prior to beginning any human research-related activities.
Failure to Comply
The IRB has the authority to suspend or withhold approval from any project that involves study personnel who fail to meet these education requirements.
Prerequisites for Being Involved in Human Subject Research
The current training requirements are:
These HRPP training requirements apply to all Principal Investigators, Co-Investigators, and research staff. This includes (but is not limited to) individuals who:
- Conduct study procedures (including informed consent) or interventions with human subjects;
- Review Board Members;
- Collect or enter data; and/or
- Use or have access to private information that can be linked to research subjects
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Both of the required training (CITI and COIC) MUST be complete/current before Cayuse access can be granted.
Cayuse is the electronic platform used by TTUHSC IRB for the management of Human Subject
Research. Human Ethics is the module within Cayuse used for submitting and managing Human Subject Research
studies/submissions.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Both of the required training (CITI and COIC) MUST be complete/current before Cayuse access can be granted.
- If you already have Cayuse access, both CITI and COIC MUST be complete/current in order to maintain access.

In addition to completing the HRPP training requirements and maintaining an active Cayuse account, all research study personnel are also required to be familiar with the HRPP Manual.
