It is critical for nurses to have a basic awareness of global health issues in order to provide competent care for various populations. This course will provide the student with a foundation of global health issues. The student will learn about a variety of issues affecting vulnerable populations including infectious disease, non-infectious disease, and non-disease related global issues that impact healthcare worldwide.

Kelly Moseley headshot

Lack of health equity not only impacts developing countries, but our own communities. My goal in teaching Introduction to Global Health is that students will learn to address social determinants of health and health disparities to improve health equity on a global scale.  My hope is that introducing students to a variety of issues impacting individuals worldwide will one day lead to participation on a global health trip or ignite a passion in reducing health disparities in their own communities.
