MSN Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Although TTUHSC is not currently mandating facial coverings, the SON Office of Admissions highly recommends you wear a facial covering when you visit our department, or any of our campuses or educational sites. Facial coverings have been an effective part of the COVID-19 management strategy. This safety precaution supports our efforts to continue operations without disruptions and provide as traditional of an educational experience as possible.

Program Overview

The Master of Science in Nursing Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Track (AGACNP) prepares graduates to provide culturally sensitive, comprehensive care for adults with common episodic and chronic health problems. The AGACNP assumes responsibility for promoting, maintaining, and restoring health to adults who are chronically, acutely or critically ill. The AGACNP is an online program that requires occasional travel to the Lubbock campus.

A Post-Masters Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate is also available to those who currently hold a Master of Science in Nursing and wish to assume a specialized role in the health care of promoting, maintaining, and restoring health to adults who are chronically, acutely or critically ill.

Upon completion of course requirements, graduates of the Masters and Post Masters Programs are eligible to sit for the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam, or the American Association of Critical Care Nurses’ Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam.
