Child and Adolescent Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
Fellowship Overview & Objectives
The primary goals of the fellowship program are to prepare postdoctoral fellows to function as capable, professional, ethical, and culturally humble psychologists, team members, and leaders in a range of settings and to demonstrate excellence in clinical services, research, and education.
- To demonstrate (with minimum guidance) the ability to practice independently in evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and families.
- To demonstrate (with minimum guidance) the ability to practice independently in the provision of consultation to medical, school, and/or other allied health professionals.
- To demonstrate (with minimum guidance) the ability to practice independently with skill and appreciation for human diversity and ethical, legal, and professional standards.
- To demonstrate (with minimum guidance) the ability to exhibit competencies in clinical teaching and supervision.
- To demonstrate (with minimum guidance) the ability to evaluate and contribute to scientific knowledge guiding psychological practice.

APPLICATION
- Applications are typically due in December of each year. Check the APPA CAS (APPIC Psychology Postdoctoral Application) online system for specific application deadlines.
- Submit the following items using the APPA CAS system:
- A cover letter outlining relevant experiences, goals for fellowship, as well as career goals and eligibility for postdoctoral fellowship
- A current curriculum vitae
- Official transcripts from graduate training
- Three professional letters of reference (at least one from predoctoral internship and one from graduate school)

- Attended an APA/CPA-accredited doctoral program in clinical, counseling, or school psychology
- Completed predoctoral internship from an APA/CPA-accredited internship program
- Completed all requirements for their doctoral degree prior to the start of fellowship
- Acceptance into the fellowship program will be dependent on successful completion of a background check
- Strong understanding of biopsychosocial factors affecting typical and atypical child development
- Extensive training in evidence-based assessment and intervention services to children, adolescents, and families
- Experience in integrated and/or multidisciplinary patient care
- Culturally humble and effective in working with a broad range of diverse and unique patient needs
SALARY/BENEFITS
- The salary for the 2023-2024 training year is $65,000. The postdoctoral fellows are employees of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and receive benefits in line with employee status

About Lubbock
Lubbock is located in the northwestern part of Texas. The population is over 300,000, with a catchment area of over 1.2 million. Lubbock is a growing educational, commercial, medical, and cultural center, with a college-town atmosphere. Lubbock has mild seasonal conditions with average of 267 days of sunshine per year. The area has a low cost of living and family-friendly atmosphere. There are unique restaurants, live music, museums, wineries, breweries, boutiques, and a drive of less than 25 minutes to anywhere in the city.
