Physical and Mental Health of Residents and Fellows
The Department of Graduate Medical Education is committed to the idea that residents and fellows remain physically and mentally healthy while completing their training program.
If you are experiencing a particularly stressful or otherwise difficult situation, please feel free to contact:
- The Director of GME, Isabel Erives (432-703-5141) or by email at ierives@ttuhsc.edu. Isabel has an “open door” policy and is always ready and willing to help with residents concerns and problems.
- The Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Residents counseling and psychological support services are outsourced by
TTUHSC-Permian Basin to the Samaritan Counseling Center (SCC). Residents can access SCC’s services directly and at no charge for the first
five sessions.
Well Being Committee:
It is imperative that House Staff in a position of responsibility, whether for patient care or other areas; not have their performance impaired by drugs, alcohol or other circumstances. If you recognize that they have such a problem or feel they may be developing a problem or need advice concerning substance abuse please contact the Physician Rehabilitation Committee. The committee functions on a confidential basis, members are knowledgeable about the subject and act as physician advocates, offering advice on sources of treatments and other aspects.
