OB/GYN Third-Year Clerkship
OB/GYN Third-Year Clerkship
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology Student Clerkship provides third- and fourth-year medical students with a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to women’s health care. Students gain experience in outpatient low- and high-risk obstetrics, inpatient obstetric, gynecologic, and oncologic care, and surgical and postoperative management in both benign and oncologic gynecology. Outpatient gynecologic training includes well-woman care, problem visits, diagnostic evaluations, colposcopy, and other procedures commonly encountered in clinical practice.
The rotation begins with a one-day orientation featuring simulated learning, followed by clinical rotations across multiple specialized sites, including the Texas Tech Physicians Pavilion Clinic, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Clinic, Center for Perinatal Medicine, and Grand Expectations Pregnancy Care Center. Students rotate through several clinical areas each week and participate in conferences and educational sessions, gaining the skills and confidence needed to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of women’s health conditions.
