Presidential Communications

 

 

Dear TTUHSC Students,

 

What a memorable spring semester! Despite the uncertainties and disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, you each have demonstrated perseverance that is commendable. As I committed to you in April, TTUHSC leadership has continued to evaluate the feasibility of safely resuming on-campus instruction beyond June 30.

Academic instruction update
Beginning July 6, specific course activities requiring special instruction or student assessment may be offered on campus with modifications to ensure the safety of our TTUHSC community. Otherwise, our on-campus academic courses will remain online throughout the summer. By May 29, your school representative will be reaching out regarding your specific program. Review these FAQs for additional information and guidelines for returning to campus.

Schedules for existing distance learning courses and programs remain unchanged. Additionally, students will continue to participate in experiential learning activities (e.g., clinical rotations, community-based experiences) in collaboration with participating sites and guidance from program accrediting bodies. Students also will participate in normal research activities in collaboration with laboratory personnel.

We will continue to closely monitor the impact of COVID-19 in our campus communities. Please expect communication from me by mid-July regarding the fall semester.

Protecting our teams
From the beginning of this pandemic, your safety and well-being have been and continue to be our top priority. While you have been off-campus, our facilities and safety services teams have led efforts to deep-clean classrooms, labs, and common spaces. As our campuses re-open, they will maintain an enhanced cleaning program that focuses on high-touch areas such as door handles, stair rails, and elevator buttons. They also have placed additional hand-sanitizer stations throughout our campuses for your convenience.

You have a significant role in protecting our TTUHSC community, as well. Please continue to practice social distancing and adhere to proper hygiene. As you return to campus, TTUHSC students are asked to wear facial coverings in common spaces and participate in daily health and wellness screenings.
