Presidential Communications
Dear TTUHSC Community,
We have been informed that a Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) student has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The health and safety of our entire campus community is our highest priority, and we want to assure our students, faculty, employees, and their families that we are taking every possible precaution to protect against and minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
University staff and associated health officials are working diligently to identify and inform all individuals who may have come in contact with the infected student over the last several days. This student does not currently reside in a TTUHSC community; however, we are in direct communication with our student to help them through this challenging time.
TTUHSC leadership continues to take action to keep our campus communities safe and limit the spread of COVID-19, including moving all on-campus academic classes online until further notice, canceling or postponing university-sponsored gatherings, and prohibiting nonessential travel.
Our focus remains on the safety and security of our campus community. We encourage all members of the TTUHSC family to follow their respective communities guidelines regarding movement outside of their homes and the CDC's preventative practices, which include washing your hands often, putting distance between yourself and other people, avoiding close contact with people who are sick, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when you are sick.
Your health and safety continue to be our primary concern as we navigate through this unfamiliar season. Live our values, be vigilant in caring for yourself and in encouraging others. We are ONE TEAM, and together we will get through this.
Warmest regards,
Lori Rice-Spearman, Ph.D.
Interim President and Provost
