Conference Summary
This symposium will provide updates on neonatal and perinatal care through didactic lectures and hands-on training and scenarios and targets. This symposium targets health care professionals involved in neonatal and perinatal, which includes physicians, nurse practitioners, residents, registered nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers.
The learning objectives of this conference are:
- Apply new knowledge and updates in the care of neonatology and perinatology
- Compare breast feeding myths vs facts and assess pros/cons for donor breast milk
- Identify patients at risk for perinatal social and psychiatric issues
- Assess stress management for parents of neonates and formulate ways to help parents cope with grief and find support for the loss of their infant
- Discuss how to communicate compassionately to grieving patients
- Perform hands-on skills and review cases and scenarios to improve patient care

in Human Breast Milk”, have been designated by Texas Tech University Health Sciences
Center for 2 credits of education in medical ethics or professional responsibility.
Nurses

The Panhandle Neonatal and Pediatric Symposium has been approved for a maximum of

Social Work
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social
Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not
individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final
authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing
this course receive 2.5 continuing education credits.
