Brandt L. Schneider, PhD
Director of Institute of Anatomical Sciences
Brandt L. Schneider, PhD, has served as the Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical
Sciences since 2013 and has been a faculty member at TTUHSC since 1999. He is a tenured
Professor in the Departments of Medical Education and Cell Biology and Biochemistry
and He is currently the Block Director of the School of Medicine’s Clinically Oriented
Anatomy course. His research interests involve role of cell cycle control and cell
growth on aging. Dr. Schneider has been supported by 25 research grants including
funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, the American
Heart Association, and the Ted Nash Long Life foundation. His formal education includes
a Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arizona
in 1993 and a postdoctoral fellowship at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory from 1993-1998.
Dr. Schneider was awarded the President’s Young Investigator Research award in 2005,
the School of Medicine Gross Anatomy Teaching Award in 2008, the Dean’s Basic Sciences
Teaching Award in 2011 and 2018, and the School of Medicine Biology of Cells and Tissues
Teaching Award in 2016. As Co-Director of the Institute of Anatomical Sciences, Dr.
Schneider is committed to excellence in anatomical teaching, research, and service,
and is excited to build an interdisciplinary approach to anatomical education and
investigation. Dr. Schneider is an avid golfer and enjoys playing Texas Tech’s Rawls
championship golf course. He also relishes spending time and taking vacations with
his family.
